Korean American Community Services

Invitation for a Fundraising Consultant

Background

Korean American Community Services (KACS) is a trusted and dynamic nonprofit dedicated to improving the quality of life for Korean Americans and the broader AAPI community in Santa Clara County. For more than 40 years, KACS has stood at the heart of the community—first by providing traditional Korean meals and translation services for monolingual seniors, and today by serving individuals of all ages through a broad array of culturally tailored programs and essential services.

Our mission is to ensure access to culturally competent resources that empower individuals and families to thrive. From case management, hot meals, senior wellness programs, and health screenings to voter registration, citizenship assistance, and advocacy, KACS is a vital bridge connecting underserved populations with the services they need. We are not only meeting basic needs—we are building community, fostering belonging, and creating pathways for self-sufficiency.

The Opportunity | Fundraising Consultant

KACS is launching one of its most ambitious initiatives yet: the Korean American Community Center Project, a transformative capital campaign to establish a permanent community space in Santa Clara County. Having already raised a portion of the necessary resources, we are ready to accelerate this effort with the guidance of a skilled fundraising consultant.

Currently operating out of two small San Jose sites—Bascom Community Center and a downtown office—we have outgrown our spaces. The need for a dedicated community hub has never been greater. This project represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to create a permanent home for programs, services, and cultural preservation.

Vision & Impact of the Korean American Community Center

A new center will:

  • Serve as a Comprehensive Resource Hub with hot meals, health screenings, wellness programs, and civic engagement opportunities.

  • Create a Multigenerational Gathering Place for children, youth, families, job seekers, and older adults to connect, learn, and thrive together.

  • Offer Shared Facilities by partnering with smaller organizations, providing affordable rental spaces, co-working opportunities, and community rooms to amplify impact.

  • Preserve and Celebrate Culture through Korean language classes, arts, heritage programs, and cultural events that enrich the broader community.

This is more than a building—it’s an investment in the future of Korean Americans and AAPI residents across the Santa Clara County and the Bay Area.

About the Role

We are inviting proposals from fundraising consultants eager to help bring this vision to life and to strengthen the fundraising capacity of KACS’s leadership. The consultant will work closely with Executive Director Eunice Chun, a long-time advocate for immigrants, seniors, and underserved families, who has led the organization with passion and dedication for over a decade. Together, you will develop and implement strategies that both fuel the capital campaign and sustain long-term growth. We are seeking a consultant ideally based in the San Jose or greater Bay Area, with an understanding of AAPI communities and a commitment to culturally responsive approaches. The consultant will be embedded in the work—spending 2-4 days per week in the San Jose office, including evenings and weekends as needed.

Consultant Role

  • Lead overall capital campaign strategy and fundraising implementation.

  • Design and execute institutional, individual, and government funder cultivation plans.

  • Plan and manage fundraising events.

  • Coach the Executive Director and development team in donor cultivation, storytelling, and strategy.

  • Strengthen long-term fundraising infrastructure for KACS beyond the campaign.

Qualifications

  • Experience with capital campaigns and nonprofit fundraising.

  • Strong understanding of the AAPI community; Bay Area–based preferred.

  • Exceptional storytelling and communications skills to amplify KACS’s vision and impact.

Budget

KACS is offering an 11-month contract (September 2025 – July 2026) with a budget range of $50,000–$60,000, based on experience and scope of work. The contract is designed for 25–32 hours per week. This investment reflects our deep commitment to securing a permanent community center and strengthening long-term fundraising capacity. There is also the possibility of extension beyond the initial contract period, depending on funding and campaign progress.

Application Process

This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of the Korean American and AAPI community in Santa Clara County. We are seeking a visionary partner who can pair technical expertise in fundraising with creativity, strategy, and passion for community impact. To apply, please submit a cover letter (highlighting your interest, relevant experience, and examples of similar work) along with your resume to Eunice Chun, Executive Director, at eunice@kacssv.org.
